River walk 25 January 2026

On Sunday 25 January there will be a guided walk along a portion of the Waikawa River near Mangai Piri | Niagara Falls. We will explore the only closed canopy remnant of riparian forest left on the river and take a look at the 2025 planting area at the ‘Dog Dosing Strip’. There will be opportunities to discuss the values of the area including hearing about the freshwater creatures which live in the Waikawa River and the plants which grow on its banks.

Please meet at the Niagara Bridge at 2 pm - bring suitable clothes for the weather on the day, comfortable walking shoes and drinking water. We will be walking along a quiet gravel road and near a steep river bank so please be aware of traffic and if you bring any children along they need to be under your direct supervision.

We will likely be finished by 3:30 pm and will circle back to the bridge at the end.

Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
